Murdock for Hire

California PI Matt Murdock goes up against a crime ring specializing in bondage and blackmail in this "fast, accomplished, and slick" series (Kirkus Reviews).

As a partial owner of a sailboat he could never otherwise afford, Newport Beach PI Matt Murdock is in over his head. Now that co-owner Eddie Hennessy is dead, the software mogul's widow wants the boat gone, and Murdock is in no position to buy her share. So, he agrees to do her a favor instead. She needs someone to find Eddie's missing coin collection. But as Murdock quickly discovers, rare coins aren't the only currency at stake.

The circumstances of Eddie's death are oddly similar to those of other recently deceased executives. The trail leads Murdock to Lido Enterprises, a secret operation where upscale prostitutes dally with stressed out businessmen. For a hefty fee, they initiate execs into the pleasures of bondage and high-grade cocaine—and then hold their reputations for ransom. Can Murdock infiltrate this kinky crime ring and break their hold on Southern California's corporate class? Sure. But it won't be smooth sailing.
